After graduating from the University of Tokyo with the Department of Electrical Engineering/ Faculty of Engineering, Akio Hori joined Nomura Research Institute in 1991.
Following assignments in Europe, he joined Nomura Securities in 2009. He has held key positions in the IT Strategy, Global IT, and Wholesale IT divisions.
Since 2021, he has overseen IT/Data management and Information Security as Senior Managing Director, while also serving as a Director and Chairperson in multiple industry associations.
In 2026, he took a role as Group CIO of Nomura Holdings also Senior Corporate Managing Director of Nomura Securities.

To strengthen competitiveness in global financial services, it is essential to shift from regionally siloed IT organizations to a global model that achieves enterprise-wide optimization. At the Nomura Group, we have advanced efforts centered on standardizing IT infrastructure, while building private and public cloud platforms and establishing global operations and in-house development capabilities. Through standardization, in-house development, and automation, we are enhancing agility and cost competitiveness and applying these gains to the adoption of new technologies, as well as to the use of AI, data, and more advanced cybersecurity measures. In addition, we are promoting organizational transformation by fostering a mindset that supports growth and advancing workstyle reform. We will introduce how we have carried out IT transformation as a management issue, along with the practices and outcomes achieved.
